marriage is the new green.
spring is here. it's about freaking time (thank you nor'easter). you know what that means... weddings weddings weddings. i have two weddings to attend this month. and a third wedding that i know about and am not invited to. exes. go figure.
out of all the boyfriends or people i've dated and kept in touch with, at least 2 of them are married. considering the ratio, that's not very many people. still, one of these two (the 3rd wedding i was not invited to), i was his girlfriend for 13 months. that's my longest relationship by far. it's still strange to me that people i have once considered marrying are married themselves. actually, this newly married dude is having a kid in july. the last i've heard, it's a boy.
i hope they name it marlolito.
many of my friends have gotten hitched pretty early (that's before the age of 24.31 in my book). props to all of those people who are so sure of meeting their soulmate. you are all waaaaayy more committed people than i ever was or will be.
according to my grandma, i have a few rules i'm supposed to follow in order to make her happy. here goes:
- marry a white man ("whites and filipinas make pretty babies")
- marry a catholic man ("so he can go to church with you")
- marry someone who buys you presents ("so you know he's always thinking of you")
- marry when you're 28 ("unless he's rich and white, then marry him now and start making me pretty babies")
that's a lot to think about. luckily, i have another 4.5 years to find a worthy applicant. in the meantime, please spread the word around. i'll be accepting applications beginning in august.
thank you,
the management
